Engineered for superior performance in tropical environments, the McRae JBII Army Hot Weather Coyote Jungle Boot (8701) delivers a lightweight, custom-fit design for the modern warfighter. Proudly 100% USA-made and strictly Berry Amendment compliant, this tactical boot is fully authorized for wear with the Operational Camouflage Pattern (OCP) uniform, meeting all AR 670-1 and AFI 36-2903 specifications.
The JBII (Jungle Boot II) platform departs from vintage combat boot designs by utilizing modern direct-attach construction, fusing a shock-absorbing polyurethane (PU) midsole to a high-traction Vibram® Jungle Boot rubber outsole. To ensure maximum safety and comfort in unpredictable tropical terrain, this model features a mil-spec non-metallic puncture-resistant insole and replaces traditional brass vents with strategically located perforations for enhanced breathability and rapid water drainage.
FEATURES:
-
AR670-1 & AFI 36-2903 Compliant: The Coyote Brown color and 8-inch structural design are fully authorized for active-duty wear with Army and Air Force OCP uniforms.
-
Puncture-Resistant Protection: Equipped with a mil-spec, non-metallic puncture-resistant insole to protect the foot from sharp debris and hazards hidden in dense tropical environments.
-
Advanced Drainage System: Utilizes strategically located perforations instead of traditional metal vents, ensuring water drains out easily while promoting rapid drying in extreme humidity.
-
Lace-To-Toe Design: Features a nylon-coated speed hook system that extends further down the foot, allowing soldiers on the go to easily adjust the fit as feet swell in the heat.
-
Vibram® Jungle Boot Outsole: A specialized rubber tread designed to deliver improved shock absorption and optimum traction across muddy, wet, and unpredictable conditions.
-
Mojave Suede & Cordura™ Upper: Blends premium full-grain Mojave suede with lightweight Cordura™ fabric for maximum breathability and flexible comfort.
-
Direct-Attach Construction: Seamlessly fuses the upper to a cushioned PU midsole, drastically reducing the boot's weight compared to vintage vulcanized jungle boots.
- Made in the USA 🇺🇸: Proudly manufactured in the United States by a legacy Department of Defense contractor.

Sizing & Fit Guide:
-
Fit Profile: Highly Adjustable / Tactical. The lace-to-toe design allows the wearer to heavily customize the snugness of the boot from the bottom of the instep all the way to the top of the 8-inch collar.
-
Sizing Advice: Fits true to size. We recommend ordering your standard military boot size.
- Pro Tip: During long foot patrols in extreme heat, feet naturally swell. The lace-to-toe hardware allows you to quickly loosen the lower section of the boot to relieve pressure without compromising the ankle support provided by the upper collar.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- What is the tactical advantage of a "Lace-to-Toe" design in a jungle environment?
Tropical environments subject the body to extreme heat and humidity, which inevitably causes a soldier's feet to swell during extended dismounted patrols. The lace-to-toe design extends the lacing system further down the foot than a standard combat boot. This allows the operator to precisely loosen or tighten specific zones of the boot on the fly, maintaining proper blood circulation and preventing debilitating blisters without sacrificing ankle stability.
- Why does the JBII use perforations instead of traditional brass drainage vents?
While traditional brass vents were revolutionary in the 1960s, they add weight and present a minor snag hazard in dense brush. The McRae JBII utilizes strategically located perforations cut directly into the upper materials. This modernizes the drainage system, reducing the boot's overall weight while still allowing water to pump out rapidly after amphibious crossings.
- What is the purpose of the non-metallic puncture-resistant insole?
In jungle and heavily forested deployments, unseen hazards like sharp bamboo (punji sticks), jagged rocks, and submerged debris pose a constant threat. The mil-spec puncture-resistant insole protects the bottom of the foot from penetration injuries. Because it is non-metallic, it does not conduct excessive heat into the footbed, nor will it interfere with metal detectors or EOD sweeping equipment.
