Where athletic agility meets mil-spec protection. The McRae 8" Terassault Freedom Articulated Coyote Boot (8158) is engineered to provide the fast, responsive feel of a running shoe with the uncompromising durability of a tactical combat boot. Proudly 100% USA-made, this boot is strictly authorized for active-duty wear with the Operational Camouflage Pattern (OCP) and Multicam uniforms for United States Army and Air Force personnel.

The defining feature of the Freedom Articulated model is its highly specialized upper construction, which incorporates functional flex points in the front and back of the ankle to enable entirely unrestricted movement. By combining a premium cowhide suede and 1000 denier nylon upper with modern direct-attach construction, this boot is an incredible 32% lighter than comparable hot-weather combat boots. Underfoot, the Vibram® Multi-sport rubber outsole delivers maximum grip on loose terrain, ensuring elite performance whether you are climbing, crawling, or rappelling.

FEATURES:

  • AR670-1 & AFI 36-2903 Compliant: The Coyote Brown color and 8-inch structural design are fully authorized for active-duty wear with Army and Air Force OCP and Multicam uniforms.

  • Articulated Agile Design: Features strategic functional flex points located in the back and front of the ankle, enabling free, unrestricted movement for high-speed operations.

  • Ultra-Lightweight Build: Utilizing advanced materials and direct-attach construction, the 8158 is approximately 32% lighter than comparable-size standard-issue hot weather boots.

  • Vibram® Multi-sport Outsole: An oil, acid, and slip-resistant rubber tread specifically engineered for maximum grip on loose terrain, with specialized zones for climbing and rappelling.

  • Targeted Air Ventilation: Equipped with a special air vent located on the inside arch to actively promote air circulation and reduce sweating in extreme hot-weather environments.

  • Tendon Relief Dip: The padded collar features a strategic cutout at the back of the heel, designed to relieve pressure on the Achilles tendon and drastically reduce leg fatigue.

  • TeraLoc Lace System: Utilizes textured TeraLoc laces that actively grip the hardware, ensuring the boot remains securely snug even if the top knot becomes loose.

  • Made in the USA 🇺🇸: Proudly manufactured in the United States by a legacy Department of Defense contractor.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • What are "functional flex points" and how do they improve mobility?

Standard 8-inch combat boots often feature a solid, stiff leather shaft that restricts how far you can bend your ankle forward or backward. The McRae 8158 features specialized "flex points" built directly into the front and back of the ankle. These flexible articulation zones allow your ankle to bend freely, making it drastically easier to run, crouch, or drive vehicles without fighting the resistance of heavy leather.

  • Is the 32% weight reduction noticeable during foot patrols?

Yes, the weight difference is massive. By utilizing modern direct-attach construction and replacing heavy solid rubber with advanced lightweight materials, the 8158 is approximately 32% lighter than comparable-size standard hot-weather boots. When lifting your foot thousands of times during a long ruck march, this weight reduction translates to significantly less leg and lower back fatigue.

  • How does the Vibram® Multi-sport sole help with fast-roping or rappelling?

While standard boot soles are designed strictly for walking on flat or slightly uneven ground, the Vibram® Multi-sport outsole features a highly specialized tread pattern. It incorporates specific traction zones designed to grip ropes securely during fast-roping or rappelling, while also providing aggressive, multi-directional edge grip for scaling steep, loose terrain.
