The McRae 8" Hot Weather Coyote Leather Panama Boot (8190) represents the 4th generation of one of the most successful combat boot platforms in U.S. military history. Proudly 100% USA-made and strictly Berry Amendment compliant, this boot is manufactured on the exact same equipment and to the general specifications of the original jungle boot. Built in the required Coyote Brown color, it is fully AR 670-1 and AFI 36-2903 compliant for wear with the Operational Camouflage Pattern (OCP) uniform.

Delivering proven durability that has spanned over 50 years, this heavy-duty boot utilizes the traditional Direct Molded Sole (DMS) vulcanization process. This extreme manufacturing method fuses the premium Coyote leather and Cordura™ upper directly to the original solid rubber Panama outsole, creating an unbreakable bond. Complete with built-in drainage vents and mil-spec oil, acid, and slip resistance, the 8190 remains a trusted favorite for professionals who require uncompromising, old-school ruggedness.

FEATURES:

  • AR670-1 & AFI 36-2903 Compliant: The Coyote Brown color and structural design are fully authorized for active-duty wear with Army and Air Force OCP uniforms.

  • DMS Vulcanization: The original military manufacturing process creates an incredibly strong, practically unbreakable bond between the upper and the solid rubber sole.

  • Leather & Cordura™ Upper: Combines premium Coyote leather with authentic 1000 Denier Cordura™ nylon for elite abrasion resistance and breathability.

  • Hot Weather Drainage Vents: Nylon-coated brass vents located at the instep allow water to pump out rapidly after submersion in wet environments.

  • Vibram™ Panama Outsole: The legendary deep-lug rubber tread actively sheds mud and clay to maintain maximum traction in swampy, unstable terrain.

  • Mil-Spec Resistance: The vulcanized rubber outsole meets strict military specifications for resisting oil, acid, and slippery surfaces.

  • Made in the USA 🇺🇸: Proudly manufactured in the United States, continuing McRae's 50+ year legacy of producing elite military footwear.

Sizing & Fit Guide:

  • Fit Profile: Classic Combat / Generous Fit. Built on original military lasts, these boots are designed to lock the heel in place while providing a highly spacious toe box.

  • Sizing Advice: Runs Large. Based on the vintage DMS construction, we highly recommend ordering one half to one full size smaller than your standard athletic shoe size.

  • Pro Tip: Weighing 40 oz. per boot, this is a heavy-duty piece of equipment designed for maximum durability. It will require a break-in period compared to lighter, modern tactical boots, allowing the heavy-duty leather and vulcanized rubber to naturally mold to your stride.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • Why is this considered the "4th Generation" of the jungle boot?

The 8190 model traces its lineage directly back to the original Vietnam-era tropical boots. Over the past 50 years, McRae has updated the exterior colors to match evolving military uniforms—moving from the original Olive Drab, to All-Black, to Desert Tan, and finally to this 4th Generation Coyote Brown version, all while maintaining the exact same original manufacturing equipment and rugged specs.

  • Is this boot heavier than modern tactical boots?

Yes. The McRae 8190 weighs approximately 40 ounces per boot. Unlike lightweight "athletic" tactical boots that use foam cementing, this boot utilizes the historic DMS vulcanization process with a solid rubber Panama outsole. The trade-off for the extra weight is a virtually indestructible sole bond and decades-proven durability in harsh environments.

  • Can I wear the McRae 8190 with my current uniform?

Absolutely. The 8190 is manufactured in the specific Coyote Brown shade required by the Department of Defense. It meets all height and structural requirements to be strictly AR 670-1 and AFI 36-2903 compliant for active-duty wear with the Operational Camouflage Pattern (OCP) uniform.
