Built for the grueling demands of the fire line, the Danner Wildland Tactical Firefighter Boots offer a specialized rough-out leather construction. Unlike smooth leather, rough-out is the "flesh side" of the hide, making it incredibly resistant to abrasions, nicks, and scuffs from thick brush and rocky high-angle terrain.
This boot is handcrafted in Danner’s Portland, Oregon factory and is fully certified to NFPA 1977:2022 (Wildland) and NFPA 1999:2018 (EMS) standards. By merging the lightweight feel of a mountain hiker with the WTF (Wildland Tactical Firefighter) Platform, Danner has created a boot that provides athletic agility without sacrificing the rigidity of a steel shank or the heat-defying power of a Vibram® Fire & Ice outsole.
FEATURES:
- Rough-Out Leather Upper: Specifically chosen for wildland use because it requires no polishing and hides the wear-and-tear of the forest floor. It is chemically treated for flame and heat resistance.
- NFPA Dual-Certified: Meets both 1977:2022 (Wildland Fire) and 1999:2018 (EMS) standards, making it a versatile tool for responders who handle both fire suppression and medical emergencies.
- Vibram® S587 Fire & Ice Outsole: This specialized rubber compound remains flexible in freezing temperatures but won't melt or lose its grip on scorching hot ground.
- Opanka-Stitch Construction: The upper is hand-attached to the sole using a reinforced stitching method that creates an incredibly strong bond, preventing delamination in high-heat environments.
- Breathable Comfort: Equipped with a lightweight mesh lining and a non-waterproof design to ensure maximum heat dissipation during high-exertion tasks in warm weather.
- Leather Finish: Rough-Out (Abrasion Resistant)
- Height: 8"

Sizing & Performance Fit:
- The 851 Last: An updated athletic fit that locks the heel in place to prevent blisters while leaving plenty of room in the toe box for foot expansion during 16-hour shifts.
- Pro Tip for Women: This is a Men’s sized boot. We recommend women size down 1.5 to 2 full sizes for the best fit.
- Break-in: Because this uses a hiker-style platform, the break-in period is significantly shorter than traditional heavy logger boots.
Frequently Asked Questions(FAQ):
What is the difference between Style 18050 and 18054?
The only difference is the leather texture. 18050 uses Rough-Out leather (fuzzy texture), which is better at hiding scratches and doesn't need to be shined. 18054 uses Smooth-Out leather, which has a traditional clean, polishable look.
Can these be resoled?
No. These boots use Opanka-stitch construction for better flexibility and weight savings, which means they are not eligible for Danner’s recrafting service.
Are they blood-borne pathogen resistant?
Yes. These boots are certified to NFPA 1999:2018, which includes performance requirements for EMS operations, including resistance to body fluids and pathogens.
